Mesotherapy

Mesotherapy: What Is It?

Mesotherapy is a word derived from the Latin words "meso" and "therapy". Mesotherapy, which literally means "medium treatment", is a form of aesthetic treatment.

It is a procedure performed on the middle layer of the skin using a needle as a method similar to Acupuncture.

The process of injecting amino acids, minerals, enzymes and vitamins into the middle layer of the skin with the help of needles (sometimes alone or mixed with each other), is called mesotherapy.

Mesotherapy has a very wide application purpose and application area. Various factors such as the person's health status, age, physical characteristics, and need are the conditions that change the content to be injected with microinjection application. Hence treatments are made individually.

How is mesotherapy done?

Mesotherapy is performed using very fine needles injecting some special solutions to the middle layer of the skin in the relevant area. It is a treatment for the damage on the skin and the regulation of the weakened blood circulation. The content of the solutions depends on the application area, application purpose, age of the person and many other factors such as the substances that the person needs (personal vitamins, amino acids and minerals).

Mesotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure that involves injecting a blend of vitamins, enzymes, hormones, and plant extracts directly into the middle layer of the skin (mesoderm) to rejuvenate, tighten skin, or reduce localised fat. The treatment can target areas such as the face, neck, décolleté, scalp, or body.

Application Process:

 * Preparation: The skin is cleansed, and a topical anesthetic may be applied to minimize discomfort.

 * Injection: Using fine, short needles, the practitioner injects the mesotherapy solution into the target area at multiple points.

 * Depth and Dosage: The injection depth (1-4 mm) and quantity of product vary based on the specific treatment goals - whether for hydration, anti-aging, or fat reduction.

 * Session Time: The process usually takes about 20-45 minutes, depending on the treatment area.

Post-Treatment and Recovery:

  • Minimal Downtime: Patients may experience slight redness, swelling, or bruising at injection sites, which usually subsides within a few hours to a couple of days.

  • Multiple Sessions: Typically, 3 to 10 sessions are recommended, spaced 1-2 weeks apart for optimal results.

Mesotherapy is a versatile treatment that can be tailored for skin rejuvenation, tightening, pigmentation correction, or targeted fat reduction, depending on the injected solution and area of application.

What are the types of mesotherapy?

There are three different types of mesotherapy, depending on the injection technique to be used. The three different types are: point by point mesotherapy, upper skin mesotherapy and comprehensive mesotherapy. Apart from this, mesotherapy application is divided into various types such as hair mesotherapy, meso-lifting and body mesotherapy according to the area of application.

How does mesotherapy work?

Before applying the mesotherapy process, the needs, age and health condition of the person are checked on basis of which the suitable substances such as amino acids, enzymes, hormones, minerals, vitamins, antioxidants and hyaluronic acid are prepared. These prepared substances are applied to the skin where it is needed with the mesotherapy process. These substances which are applied to the skin tissue stimulate the structures called collagen and elastin that keep the skin alive and tight. These stimulated structures accelerate the blood circulation in the area applied and provide the regulation of the immune response and circulation in the lymphatic system. All these things together provide skin renewal. Subcutaneous tissue is repaired and thus the loosened tissues regain their old firmness and rejuvenation is provided. The results and success rates vary depending on factors such as the number of sessions, the correct ratio of injected substances and the person themselves.
